I did it! Finally!!

Oh yes after years (ok maybe months is more like it) of contemplation, I finally did it!!

That's me right after my Lasik surgery while waiting for hon to come and send me home...

The whole process took about one and a half hour, but the actual surgery took place for less than 15 mins...I was pretty scared the day before as well as just before the surgery, but all my friends who did it encouraged me and said "you will never regret it"....

I was scared coz one of my colleagues told me her hubby's surgery had some complications but it was resolved already and now he is enjoying himself too....and such a coincidence his surgery was done by the same doctor! *gulps*

The staff at the clinic were super nice, and so was my doctor (he is pretty gd looking!)...

So first I had to lie on this dental-clinic lookalike bed while the doctor uses a machine to hold my eyeball in place and create a flap on my cornea...unlike what Tim said, I can actually see the whole process....of coz not very clearly coz I have myopia but I can seeeeeeeee!! =X

And I can actually feel them doing something to my eyeball though I can't feel the pain coz I was given numbing eyedrops which took immediate effect...

After that I was shifted over to the next machine with a blinking red light (laser) and I was supposed to stare at the red light...sounds easier than done!!!

The red light was pretty clear until the doctor lifted the cornea flap, after which the red light just became one blur ring of red....I had to stare and focus for 44 seconds..which I couldnt coz it's simply too hard!

Actually after creation of the flap I was a little teary already and I couldnt really see very well after that...

Anyway I could feel my eye gazing off ( at this point my eyeball can move around freely as the holding eyeball in place was only for creation of the flap)...and then the doctor edged me on "look at the red light!"...then my gaze went back to the light...

After the laser was done, he put back the flap and started washing my eyeball....and tadah it's done!!

No burning smell which Sarah told me about previously..but probably coz I did the laser one instead of the traditional blade one...

I was asked to sit in front of this machine whereby the doc will check again and make sure everything is ok before I can go out of the surgery theatre...and by now I can already see, just a little smokey which will go away with some sleep...

I was pretty gungho and wanted to go home as I thought hon couldnt make it until after work...but he was actually on leave and came over earlier to send me home...which luckily he did coz by the time I was in the car, my eyes started to tear and tear coz the effect of the numbing eyedrops went off....

It wasnt painful at all, just slight discomfort....I slept all the way after reaching home and was ok after a few hours of slp....I didnt take the 2 painkillers/sleeping pills given at all coz it wasnt painful at all!! wheee~~~!

So now I can see very clearly with my naked eye already!! Super super happy that I went for the operation coz it's really like a whole new world! =D

I can recommend my doctor if anyone is interested as heard from another friend that this doctor is quite famous for being professional and good! =)
